Sunset Cruises in Madeira — The Best Way to End a Perfect Day
Madeira's sunsets are spectacular. The island rises sharply from the Atlantic — Pico Ruivo reaches 1,862 metres — which means evening light plays across dramatic volcanic cliffs, terraced vineyards, and the twinkling lights of Funchal far below. From the water, with a glass of local poncha or Madeira wine in hand, this is one of Europe's great sunset experiences.
Our sunset cruises depart from Funchal Marina approximately 90 minutes before sunset — the exact time varies by season (as late as 21:00 in summer, 17:30 in winter). We cruise west along the coast, anchoring off Câmara de Lobos — the picturesque fishing village that inspired Winston Churchill to paint and that Hemingway described as "the most beautiful bay in the world". As the sun drops toward the horizon, we drift back toward Funchal as the city lights come on.

We operate on both the Starfisher 34 (comfortable, with a covered salon for 12 guests — ideal if the evening gets cool) and the open Zodiac (faster, more intimate, best for warmer summer evenings). Tell us your preference when booking.
